I struck a blow for The Small Person everywhere today. I went to Starbucks, with a free coupon, and ordered a Venti Triple White Chocolate Mocha that came to a total of $4.92US. They nulled it, and I had to use both hands to carry it. TAKE THAT CORPORATE AMERICA! HA! :flip:

I suspect that in your part of the world people are even more strident in the love/ hate relationships with Starbucks than they are elsewhere.

We actually have multiple choices here in Downtwon Seattle. In fact, the deli down the hall brews a supreme Torrefazione drip for a buck a cup.

Starbucks just bought out Torrefazione, closed their stores and soon will be roasting those beans to that formula. All I have to do is swing a cat by the tail and I'll hit the front door of another fine establishment a block away. :-D :cat: :cup:

Keep up the good fight. Starbucks opened up two (more) shops in downtown Austin, each a stones' throw from two locally treasured indies. Worse is the Seattle's Best (also Starbucks) right across from BookPeople, one of the most famous non-corporate bookstores in the country, and the world headquarters of Whole Foods, which monitors coffee growing practices and wages.

This is similar to a debate going on in the U.K. that all high streets are becoming the same. Dublin to Dubrovnik, Berlin to Barcelona it's all the same outlets. Where's the variety?

After the 100th cup, Fry becomes faster than Time itself.

They keep bulding new Starbucks everywhere in Las Vegas. They just replaced the old coffee shop in Sunset Station casino. First off the casino has several restaurants and a buffet that serve coffee,plus the fast food joints, I guess everyone has to have the Starbuck's brand. Secondly, I never saw anyone buy anything from the old coffee shop, except one time when there was a concert outside of the building. Then a few weeks ago, the new Starbucks opened up, it was about 6am or 7am and the place was packed solid. There was not even enough room to everyone to stand in the door. It's crazy how some people just have to have a name brand, they can't try anything that stands alone or is unique. They even sell Starbucks iced-coffee in the grocery stores which are rather expensive. To each his own,I guess. I don't care what they do,just an observation. It's like the corporations train people in what is good, what is cool and what to do with their lives. ;)

:lol: oh, yes, i remember that one - there was a counter to 100th cup through out the whole episode. That was the epi/ Zap Branigan massacre'd those spiders and auctioned off the loot !
