Who is the EC at "Veteran of Psychic Wars"?

    Folks,

I guess a thread like this already was posted at this forum, but... Come on!
I was remembering "Veteran of Psychic Wars", that excellent Blue Oyster Cultآ´s song, penned by Mike and I wonder...
Who is the EC at that song?
These are some opinions I could collect about this matter:
The EC at "Veteran of Psychic Wars" would be:
    1) Jerry Cornelius
    2) Jerry Corneliusآ´future version
    3) Elricآ´s future version
    4) Another EC version, that it was featured only at that song.

Hum... I choose the fourth option.

    What about you, folks?

    Rita.

For those (like me) who have never heard this song, here's the lyrics:

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
I’ve been living on the edge so long
Where the winds of limbo roar
And I’m young enough to look at
And far too old to see
All the scars are on the inside
I’m not sure that there’s anything left to me

Don’t let these shakes go on
It’s time we had a break from it
It’s time we had some leave
We’ve been living in the flames
We’ve been eating up our brains
Oh please don’t let these shakes go on

You ask me why I’m weary, why I can’t speak to you
You blame me for my silence say It’s time I changed and grew
But the war’s still going on, dear, and there’s no end that I know
    And I can’t say if we’re ever...
I can’t say if were ever gonna be free

Don’t let these shakes go on
It’s time we had a break from it
It’s time we had some leave
We’ve been living in the flames
We’ve been eating out our brains
Oh please don’t let these shakes go on

You see me now a veteran of a thousand psychic wars
My energy is spent at last
    And my armor is destroyed
I have used up all my weapons and I’m helpless and bereaved
Wounds are all I’m made of
Did I hear you say that this is victory?

Don’t let these shakes go on
It’s time we had a break from it
    Send me to the rear
Where the tides of madness swell
    And been sliding into hell
Oh please don’t let these shakes go on
Don’t let these shakes go on
Don’t let these shakes go on

_"For an eternity Allard was alone in an icy limbo where all the colours were bright and sharp and comfortless.
_For another eternity Allard swam through seas without end, all green and cool and deep, where distorted creatures drifted, sometimes attacking him.
_And then, at last, he had reached the real world – the world he had created, where he was God and could create or destroy whatever he wished.
_He was supremely powerful. He told planets to destroy themselves, and they did. He created suns. Beautiful women flocked to be his. Of all men, he was the mightiest. Of all gods, he was the greatest."

I dunno, Option 4 could be.

I think that it's Option 6: All of the incarnations of the EC, generally speaking.

All of the ECs go through hell, figuratively and literally, so they're all
''young enough to look at and far too old to see'', ''wounds are all I'm made of'', etc.

            Could be anyone.

What you can say is he is himself.

Sounds a bit druggy, the shakes thing. No offence intended. Could it be an anti war song? Like a soldier or something.

i've always felt it be parallel to Elric, really: imagine entire ranks of Elrics, trudging on and on into yet another useless battle. they're exhausted. soul sick. and it's not "victory" until every single one of them accepts their cannon-fodder status, spirits broken. thrown away.

DAYEM is that one DEPRESSING song or WHAT? (it does its job quite well, unfortunately.)

Ehm... did I hear you say Vietnam? I can close my eyes and very easily imagine how a veteran of that particular war might feel this way.

                    Hullo demos,

do you happen to have the lyrics to The Great Sun Jester?

Is the Fire Clown an eternal champion or maybe an erternal villian?

The Winds of Limbo line could refer to him and his comapnion/servant with the transparent skin. :D "The scars are on the inside"

"With a deep, not-unhappy sigh, Elric prepared to do battle with an army." (Red Pearls)

A very good and interesting option.
King Silverskin, who we have seen in Mike Moorcockآ´s Multiverse (graphic novel/comics)... Since we can understand he would be, how it was appointed by Yolanda, the sum of all ECs... Worth hypothesis...

The EC in the song could be made up of fragments from each of us.

Exactly, it's John Daker. Speaking of which, I noticed that Wikipedia has now added the Moorcock character to the entry on the singer:

                          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Daker

That's happened since the last time I posted about the entry, when it wasn't there yet. They still haven't put two and two together quite that maybe the internet phenomena is a bit of a hoax. When you go and name yourself after an Eternal Champion, you just might realize you've created a persona that will kick around the net for a while...

They have killed the Great Sun Jester
                            Who danced between the stars
They have stripped him of his manhood
Signs of Venus and of Mars

                            The cynics left him weeping
And the jackals have left him torn
And the Jester reaches out blind hands
                            He can touch the stars
                            No more

                            And he took the stars
                            In his hands
And as he scattered them he’d shout
“I’m the joker of the universe
                            I’m what it’s all about
Now he’s dying in his grief
And the hard men drag him down
They have killed the wild-eyed jester
They have killed the fire clown

Now his blind eyes seek the starlight
                            And his fingers seek controls
To take him into space again
Where he was both young and old

                            The dancer’s stiff with pain
And they’ve made him kneel too long
And the madness they have driven out
They’ve left him cold and sane

                            And he took the stars
                            In his hands
And as he scattered them he’d shout
“I’m the joker of the universe

He’ll never dance between the stars again
                            He’ll never
                            Laugh again
No he’ll never, ever laugh again
                            Oh no!

Just to deepen this a bit, it sounds like the life of an ordinary person. Me being a very apt description of who it is.
The cat spread its wings and flew high into the air, hovering to keep pace with them as they moved cautiously toward the city. Then, as they climbed over the rubble of what had once been a gateway and began to make their way through piles of weed-grown masonry, the cat flew to the squat building with the yellow dome upon its roof. It flew twice around the dome and then came back to settle on Jhary's shoulder. - The King of the Swords
