You are bidding for a full-page broadsheet colour advert, the back cover of the November 29 1971 issue of the British underground paper Frendz. The advert for the band's album "In Search of Space" takes the form of a two-page comic strip, following the adventures of the Sonic Assassins as they save Void City from audiopollution. If the credits are to be believed, it was written by Michael Moorcock and drawn by Jim Cawthorne.

So are they correct? Is this some 'long-lost' MM comic strip? Might be tempted to put a couple of bids in if it is. :)

Strange to see that again. There was one other strip in Frendz, as I recall, also drawn by Jim. Single page done as an ad. Or am I remembering wrong ?

Anyway, does one need a head-torch to peruse an underground paper? :| Does it involve leaves (geddit?) on the line? And should it be tabloid or broadsheet? (>reader's voice< 'Don't start 'im off again, for Gawd's sake')

hehe, I have not seen that one bofore, that is very cool.

I do have the Jim Cawthorne Stormbringer comic though. I was suprised to find it at a Tower Records back in 1999, they must have found them in an old warehouse.

Well, I've put a bid in on the auction so we'll see how it goes.

You know, if I didn't know that Jim Cawthorn had drawn it, based on those rather small thumbnails I'd have said that it looks a lot like an early Kevin O'Neill strip (he of Nemesis the Warlock and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen fame).
