Hey Pard,

I can't remember who wrote LOVE IN BACKSPACE. I know that it was either a link at the old multiverse or a suggestion you gave to me some time ago. I was hoping that you would remember who wrote it a perhaps a link to that site. I randomly remembered it yesterday and remembered how much I enjoyed it. I'm hoping to read more by the same author.

It's by Barry Bayley and I think you'll still find it, together with a couple of long conversations between myself and Barry, at the Fantastic Metropolis site (should be linked to this one). Barry and I are very old friends and I had the privilege of publishing a number of his highly seminal stories in New Worlds, including The Patch (which was such an influence on Wm Burroughs), The Ship of Disaster and All The King's Men, which was such an enormous influence on M.John Harrison's sf.
His Knights of the Limits and The Soul of the Robot remain, in my view and that of many others, classics. Most of his work is available in POD
editions. Check him out on Amazon. He can still be picked up second hand, though he has a large 'secret' following who tend to snap up his books as soon as they become available. Barry and I have been friends since the 1950s. My first story in New Worlds was a collaboration with Barry (as Michael Barrington) called Peace on Earth. 1959, I think.
